Questions

A blank parental authorization form is available online on the event website (under “Practical Information”).

To participate in the event, all participants acknowledge:

  • That they have read the event rules and accept all of their clauses in their entirety
  • That they are aware of the risks associated with cycling, such as individual or group falls
  • That they have acquired a level of cycling ability appropriate for the chosen route and are fully aware of its difficulty
  • They know how to handle the realities of riding on rough terrain and in potentially difficult weather conditions (rain, cold, etc.)
  • They will show respect for other participants and any private property that the route may cross
  • Provide assistance and rescue to any participant in difficulty.
  • Comply with the mandatory equipment requirements.

Participants compete as individuals. The organizer reserves the right to limit the number of participants without notice.

Participants must be in good health and adequately trained. A license and/or medical certificate is not required to participate in cyclosportive events in Switzerland. However, the organization strongly recommends that participants consult a doctor to confirm their ability to undertake this type of effort. To validate their registration, participants must provide one of the following documents:
1. UCI license (Swiss Cycling or other federation)
2. Medical certificate stating “no contraindications to cycling”
3. Or a liability waiver (a template can be found on the event website).

Blank templates for parental authorization, medical certificates, and liability waivers are available online on the event website, under the practical information page. Without the required documents, bibs will not be issued.
Photocopies of certificates and licenses are accepted.

Depending on the number of participants, a ‘disabled’ category will be set up for each course. Participants competing in this category must indicate this when they register* (tick box). For obvious reasons of safety and visibility, they will nevertheless have to be positioned at the extreme rear or front of the peloton when lining up at the start line. The bike must be equipped in such a way as to be visible within a cyclist’s field of vision.

The schedules for each route and details of the itinerary can be found on the website. The route is subject to prefectural authorization and may be modified by the organizer at any time.

All participants will be called to the starting line 15 minutes before the start of the race for a reminder of the instructions. It is the responsibility of each participant to arrive on time for registration, the briefing, and the start of the race. Participants not wearing the race jersey may be placed at the back of the pack.

A “fictitious” / “neutralized” start may be implemented for each course in order to give the actual, flying start when all safety conditions are met.

Registrations are open until 30 minutes before the start of the event (D-Day, on site, digitally for environmental reasons). However, the organizer reserves the right to close registrations at any time.

For obvious reasons of preparation and logistics, the organizer will not be held responsible if the participant registered at the last minute does not receive all the benefits (jersey, medal …).

Race bibs can be picked up at the race village Palladium Sports Center in Champéry.

You must bring your registration confirmation (QR code) as well as a valid ID or license. Timing chips must be attached to the front of the bike. Those who have not validated their registration (medical certificate/license/incomplete file) must present the supporting documents at the registration desk.

A third party may collect another person’s race number (with proof of identity).
Schedules:

  • Saturday morning: from 6.45am to 6.45pm In Champéry
  • Sunday morning: from 6.45 am

Competitors are solely responsible for ensuring that the equipment they use complies with current standards and for maintaining it.

Traditional bicycles

Unicycles, time trial bikes, fixed-gear bikes, folding bikes, bikes with spoked wheels and/or lenticular wheels, and extensions are prohibited.

Electric bikes are allowed on all courses except the long course (no classification but with all other services maintained). The use of an e-bike must be mentioned at the time of registration (choice of bike).

Recumbent bikes are allowed on all courses. Their use must be mentioned at the time of registration (choice of bike). For obvious reasons of safety and visibility, they must nevertheless position themselves at the very back or very front of the peloton when lining up at the start line. The bike must be equipped in such a way as to be visible in the field of vision of a cyclist.

Tandems are allowed on all courses. Their use must be mentioned at the time of registration (choice of bike). Tandem participants can register at the normal participation rate. They will then only receive one participant’s rider pack (jersey, meal, goodies, etc.). To receive two rider packs, they must add a “tandem” option to their basket. This option will be charged.

Cyclist equipment

Each participant must arrive at the start line with the cycling and sports equipment listed below.

• CE-approved helmet with hard shell and chin strap fastened (mandatory)
• Filled water bottles (mandatory)
• Gloves, pump, inner tube/puncture repair kit (recommended)
• Charged phone with GPS and emergency numbers saved (recommended). Active use of the phone (calls, texts, taking photos/videos) while riding is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
• In the event of unfavorable weather conditions (heavy rain and cool temperatures), the organization reserves the right to require participants to carry a jacket and a survival blanket for all routes.
• It is the responsibility of each participant to carry repair and replacement equipment with them so that they can quickly get back on the road. It is also possible to stop at bike shops along the route to make repairs and then resume the route where it was left off.

In the event of failure to comply with the recommended equipment requirements, the organization cannot be held responsible for any incidents and their consequences. Competitors are responsible for the proper functioning and monitoring of their equipment.

Yes, the jersey must be worn during the race and is required to take part in the tombola*. Participants not wearing a jersey may be refused access to the start SAS or placed at the extreme rear of the peloton. In bad weather conditions, a jacket may be worn over the jersey.

The jersey will not be tryable or exchangeable after registration. So be sure to check the size guide before you register. Beware, jerseys are cut close to the body. We strongly recommend that you take an extra size.

The organization will offer a jersey TO THE FIRST 1000 REGISTRANTS. The allocation is made in chronological order of registration.
*The participants registered after the allocation of the total number of jerseys offered by the organization will not be excluded from the draw of the raffle. The cost of registration remains the same as for those who have received a jersey.

Race numbers are assigned in the order in which registration forms are received.

The organizer reserves the right to issue priority bib numbers (SAS in the front row). A justified request of a sporting nature* may be sent to: chablaislemansportorganisation@gmail.com. The request must be made no later than 7 days before the date of the event.
* Priority bib numbers are limited to 40 places per course. “Priority” bibs are allocated upon presentation of results from the previous 2 seasons:
– Top 20 overall and podium finish in similar events in the previous 2 seasons (similar in terms of distance, elevation gain, and number of participants).

Race numbers will be allocated in the order of receipt of the registration forms. The organizer reserves the right to issue priority numbers (SAS in the first line). A justified request of a sporting nature can be addressed to: chablaislemansportorganisation@gmail.com

The request must be made at the latest 7 days before the date of the event.

In the event of a delay at a time barrier, the organizer may require the competitor to switch to a shorter route. The rider may also return on their own outside the system or be transported back in the broom wagon.

The organization recommends that cyclists who are no longer able to continue (due to equipment failure, flat tire, fall not requiring immediate repatriation, physical failure, etc.) to wait for the broom wagon (minibus with bike trailer) or to go to a refreshment point to be repatriated at the end of the event by a member of the organization. The organizer will not be able to repatriate individual participants (except in cases of immediate necessity). Any participant who has fallen, suffered mechanical failure, or physical exhaustion and is unable to reach the repatriation points on their own must immediately report their withdrawal to the race director using the emergency number indicated on their bib.

If a participant wishes to withdraw, they must notify a marshal and/or immediately report their withdrawal to the race director using the emergency number indicated on their race bib. Any failure to do so may result in costs being incurred by the competitor.

A partner stand will be at your disposal on Saturday in the race village for last minute repairs. Nevertheless, each participant is required to have a bike in working order and to have his own repair material.

Personal follow cars are not allowed.

The organization will only repatriate participants in case of extreme emergency. In case of a flat tire, participants will have to return to the start on their own. An emergency number will be given to each participant. A solution can be provided by the organization. The broom wagon will be one of them.

A mechanics stand will be available on Saturday 4th in the event village for last minute checks. That said, each participant is required to have a bike in good working order and basic repair equipment is highly recommended for the ride.

Private support vehicles are not allowed.

The organisation’s insurance does not cover material damage. It is up to each participant to insure their equipment for use in the event.

The dining area is located in the event village, Centre Sportif Palladium de Champéry. Each participant will receive one meal ticket. Additional meals for accompanying persons can be reserved at the time of registration or on site. The dining area is open from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
A secure bike park with a locker system is available to participants near the dining area. Participants acknowledge that the organizers are not responsible for the supervision of personal belongings or items in the event of theft or loss. Items, accessories, or bikes given to third parties during the event (whether members of the organization or not) will be the sole responsibility of the participant who leaves them.

Several refreshment points are organized on the course. They will be indicated on the maps and course profiles and reminded to the participants at the start of the event. Competitors may be supplied by their companions at other points on the course provided that the supply is made by a pedestrian, on the right side of the road, and that it does not affect the safety of the event and other participants. Refuelling a participant from a moving vehicle is forbidden and will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant.

Refreshments will include

  • -Liquids: cola, syrup, water, etc.
  • -Something sweet: fruit, dried fruit, cereal bars, cakes, etc.
  • -Savoury: cold meats, potato fritters, bread, cheese, etc.

Showers, toilets, and dining facilities will be available to all participants in the finish village, Centre Sportif Palladium de Champéry.

Each participant will receive an individual meal ticket when they collect their race number. Additional tickets can be purchased at the refreshment stand in the race village or when registering online.

The road is open to traffic: strict compliance with federal traffic laws (LCR) is required. The organization reserves the right to exclude any participant who does not comply with these laws.

Support vehicles are prohibited.

We ask that participating cyclists strictly comply with the rules of the road.

150 pedestrian marshals and 30 motorcyclists will be on hand to ensure your safety; 1 lead car for each route; 1 broom car for each route; 2 medical assistance vehicles during the race.

Keep to the right when riding. Overtake on the left, signaling your intention to pass.

A special prize draw will be held for all participants wearing the event jersey. The draw will take place THE DAY BEFORE the ROAD event at 2pm (Saturday).

Prizes will be awarded on the DAY OF THE ROAD EVENT after the official ceremony, at around 2.30/3pm.

Winners must collect their prizes in person upon presentation of their license, ID card, or race number. No prizes will be sent, exchanged, or given to a third party.

Specific rules can be found on the “Practical Information” page of the event website.

Eco-responsible behavior

You will cross beautiful landscapes, and, as in any place, it is strictly forbidden to throw away your waste (cans, papers energy bars, plastics etc.).
At each feeding station, as well as at the start and finish line, you will have selective waste bins for your waste. The organization reserves the right to exclude on the spot participants who throw their waste on the side of the road and do not respect these instructions. Those excluded from the race will also be removed from the draw.

Fair Play Behavior

Competitors not respecting the sportsmanship and “fair play” of the event, caught in a situation of fraud (lock not respected, early departure, route not respected, use or assistance of vehicles, etc), or having an irresponsible or even dangerous behavior or practice (holding disrespectful or insulting words, incivilitý, use of doping products, throwing objects, documents or waste, dangerous driving, violation of the highway code, etc) will be punished according to the case: time penalty, downgrading, exclusion from the event or even a ban from participating in other events organized by Chablais Léman Sport Organisation.

Civil liability: the organizers have taken out a policy covering their civil liability and that of the participants involved. It only takes effect on the official route and during the event, for participants who are duly registered and checked at the start, on the route, and at the finish.

Individual accident insurance: Participants are responsible for taking out insurance at the time of registration (optional). The organizer’s insurance only covers physical damage to the participant during the duration and route of the event. Depending on their membership terms with the Federation, licensees may be eligible for specific coverage. It is strongly recommended that each participant take out the option offered by the organizer or individual insurance covering bodily injury (disability, death) related to competitive cycling.

Damage and material liability: Neither the organizer nor its insurer covers damage that may be caused to participants’ equipment, particularly in the event of a fall or theft. It is the responsibility of each participant to take out their own insurance.
Competitors are responsible for the proper functioning and supervision of their equipment. A cloakroom and bike park will be provided. Participants acknowledge that the organizers are not responsible for the supervision of personal belongings or items in the event of theft or loss. Any items, accessories, or bikes entrusted to third parties during the event (whether members of the organization or not) will be the sole responsibility of the participant entrusting them.

Participation in the race is entirely at the participant’s own risk, with no recourse against the Organizer regardless of the damage suffered or caused. In the event of an accident, the Organizer and all persons or entities involved in the organization, including but not limited to the Organizer’s bodies and employees, agents, contractors, and auxiliaries, including volunteers, shall not be held liable to the fullest extent permitted by law.
